Brightfish now support reception of source files through the HD-MAT protocol. This defines 2 aspects:
1) File format
- the images are included as 1920 x 1080 (HD), at 25 fps (TV standard)
- the sound is included as stereo PCM (which is not enough for cinema, so you need to send a 5.1 mix WAV file to us also*)
Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg2video, yuv422p, 1920x1080 [PAR 1:1 DAR 16:9],
50000 kb/s, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 25 tbn, 50 tbc
Stream #0.1: Audio: pcm_s24le, 48000 Hz, 1 channels, s32, 1152 kb/s
Stream #0.2: Audio: pcm_s24le, 48000 Hz, 1 channels, s32, 1152 kb/s
2) File transfer
- the files can be sent directly to Brightfish through the DMAT sender program

*Remark: cinema sound = 5.1 audio
- if you want to deliver 5.1 (6 channel) audio, please send it separately via mail, FTP or Wetransfer.
- either 1 WAV file with 6 channels: L /R /C / LFE / LS /RS or 6 separate WAV files
- mixed for the TV version (so length of the audio x 25 fps = # of image frames delivered; e.g. 30 sec audio = for 750 frames)
- if there is no 5.1 audio available, we can convert the stereo signal into 6 channels, but this does not give the same quality and separation of voice/music as with real 5.1 audio.
Remark: cinema conversion
- if the original clip was 30 seconds at 25 frames/sec, Brightfish will slow it down to a 31.25 sec spot running at 24 fps (cinema standard). The sound will also be adapted.
Advantages
- if your spot has run on TV in Belgium, chances are it exists in HDMAT format. You can send it as-is to Brightfish.
- no negotiation about codec, pixel size or bit length. The HDMAT format is standardized and Brightfish can process it.
