These specifications are valid when Brightfish needs to make a DCP from source material you send us.
TRANSFER
IMAGE
- Frame rate: 24 fps or 25 fps is accepted
- So no 29.7 fps, no 60 fps, …
DIMENSIONS 2D/3D
We accept the following video/image resolutions:
- 1920 x 1080 – “HD” – aspect ratio 1:1.78 or ’16/9′
- 1998 x 1080 – “Flat” – aspect ratio 1:1.85
- 2048 x 1080 – “2K” – aspect ratio 1:1.90
- 2048 x 858 – “Scope” – aspect ratio 1:2.39 – remark: all advertising is shown in 2K/FLAT (1080 height), so your Scope image will be letterboxed above and below image.
If you don’t know what ‘flat’ and ‘scope’ mean, the 1920×1080 (HD) format is probably what you should be using.
FILE FORMAT
- Preferably: High Quality HD MOV/MP4/AVI – e.g. ProRes 422/H.264 – no proprietary codecs like AVID/Cineform/RED – as a rule: if you can’t play it on VLC player, we can’t process it.
- Alternatively: sequence of TIFF/TGA
- only the frames of the advert, no countdown/spot ID frames
3D STEREOSCOPIC
- a separate folder for the Left and Right channel
SOUND
- Preferably cinema mix – 5.1 sound channels: L/R/C/Lfe/Ls/Rs
- 6 separate WAV files, or one 6-channel file (48 KHz, 16 or 24 bit)
- Also possible: stereo mix: L/R
- 2 separate WAV files, or one 2-channel file (48 KHz, 16 or 24 bit)
- Not accepted: separate voice/music/FX sound. We don’t mix sound!
- Mixed for 24 fps (so: length sound x 24 = number of frames) or for 25 fps
- Loudness: mix for -3dB, all soundtracks will be checked & adapted for by the 85 LEQ/R128 standard anyway
- only the sound of the advert, no silence/beep before it
EXAMPLE
- your spot is 30 second cinema spot: we expect 30 x 24 = 720 files for the image, and 6 WAV files of exactly 30 sec.
- you spot is a 20 seconds TV spot (originally 25 fps): we expect 20 x 25 = 500 frames for the image, and 6 WAV files of exactly 20 sec. We will do the conversion 25 fps => 24 fps.
